National Football League

The National Football League (NFL) is the height of professional American football in the US. It was founded on September 17, 1920 as the American Professional Football Conference. The league adapted its current name in 1922. After the merger with the American Football League (AFL) in 1970, NFL greatly expanded and now consists of 32 teams which are divided equally into its two conferences, the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference.

2012 NFL Season

The 93rd regular season of the National Football League began on September 5, 2012 with the traditional Kickoff game held at MetLife Stadium. The 2012 NFL season concluded with the league championship game, Super Bowl XLVII, between the Baltimore Ravens of the American Football Conference (AFC) and San Francisco 49ers of the National Football Conference (NFC). The match was held on February 3, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans. The Ravens won the game with the final score 34-31, earning their second Super Bowl title.

Quarterback Joseph Vincent “Joe” Flacco was named MVP of Super Bowl XLVII. Together with Flacco, the following players are among the 2012 NFL season’s champions:

Stephon Heyer

Steven Heyer played for the Oakland Raiders in the 2011 NFL season after leaving his first team, the Washington Redskins. The 29-year-old offensive tackle is currently a free agent. He was signed by the New York Jets early in 2012 but was released briefly before the regular season started. Since his debut in NFL, Steven Heyer has appeared in a total of 61 games with 35 starts.
